Islander 28' Fibreglass Boat
“not in production till further notice”
Description
The ISLANDER 28 is our locally manufactured offshore boat and has been designed to suit Fiji’s particular sea conditions. It is most suited to open ocean and inter island travel. The Islander 28 is a surefooted and dry boat. Also featuring a fine entry point for rougher water and high freeboard for safety. With its’ moderate V at the transom, it is capable of travelling in surprisingly shallow water. Due to its unique design, weight and easy lifting hull, it performs exceptionally well with minimum horse power.
Our Islander 28’s are regularly taken inter island from Suva to Vanua Balavu in Lau, a distance of 170 nautical miles, in various sea conditions ( 25-35 knots). 700 nm round trips have been done in our boat over a two week period. Another Islander 28 “Natusara” has been running from Suva to Kadavu, fully loaded, on a daily basis, for a nine month period and rarely had to turn back. Our demonstration boat “AWS-M” has a 120 HP inboard diesel engine that cruises at 18 knots (max 26). We recommend 200 HP as ideal with a maximum HP of 250 Hp which produce a top speed of around 40 knots.
